Meteorological Forecast and Air Quality Discussion:
Today, a southwesterly flow regime will establish as an upper level low approaches. There is a marine push up the Columbia River that looks to reach the Palouse and Camas Prairie. The surface wind direction will be from the southwest to west-northwest at 8-12 mph. Skies will be sunny. Mixing heights are expected to range from 3,000-8,000 feet AGL over all airsheds. The winds aloft over northern Idaho will be from the southwest at speeds of 5-15 mph. Ventilation will be POOR in the morning and become GOOD in the afternoon while remaining MARGINAL over Nez Perce County. The inversions will break out between 11am-2pm. Air quality is good to moderate. PM2.5 and ozone are below concentration thresholds for most areas in north Idaho. Boundary county is over preburn concentration thresholds.
