Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection for Wastewater Operators - How to Maximize the Benefits of UV Disinfection for Wastewater and Reuse Applications
Wastewater professionals who have a UV system or are considering operating a UV system.
This class will teach the fundamentals of Ultra Violet (UV) Disinfection technology, including recent technological advances that improve its reliability and effectiveness, which should be considered when selecting a UV system. Appropriate applications for various UV system configurations will be discussed, and special focus will be given to proper operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the systems. Impacts of lamp aging, sleeve fouling and monitoring will also be discussed, as well as realistic factors for such that should be assumed during design. Lessons-learned compiled during UV audits conducted as part of a WRRF project 14-11 and samples of various UV equipment will be shared with participants to enhance learning.
