Accepting comments from March 21, 2025, through May 5, 2025.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks comment on a draft partial permit renewal for hazardous waste storage and treatment for the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center’s Liquid Waste Management System, located at the Idaho National Laboratory.

The permit is based on a renewal application by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), as required under Idaho’s Hazardous Waste Management Act. The draft partial permit sets forth procedural requirements for treatment and storage of mixed waste and eventual closure of the units to ensure protection of human health and the environment. DEQ is the regulatory agency helping ensure proper management and disposal of hazardous and solid wastes.

The permit materials are available for public review at DEQ’s State Office (1410 North Hilton Street, Boise, Idaho 83706), Idaho Falls Regional Office (900 N. Skyline Drive, Suite B Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402), and on DEQ’s Public Comment Opportunities page.

Written comments will be accepted through May 5, 2025, at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. Submit comments electronically using the form below or by mail or email to:
