DEQ seeks comment on draft permit to construct modification for Johnson Thermal Systems, Inc.

Accepting comments from June 26, 2024, through July 26, 2024.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks comment on a draft permit to construct modification for Johnson Thermal Systems, Inc.

Johnson Thermal Systems Inc. is a design and manufacturing facility for power and refrigeration enclosures in Caldwell, Idaho. The facility includes typical fabrication operations such as abrasive blasting, plasma cutting, welding, surface cleaning, and surface coating. The modified permit would authorize new PPG coatings and a new welding rod and increase other limits for operational flexibility.

DEQ has determined that construction and operation according to the proposed permit will not cause or significantly contribute to a violation of any ambient air quality standard and will not injure or unreasonably affect human or animal life or vegetation. Based on this analysis, DEQ proposes to issue the permit to construct to Johnson Thermal Systems, Inc.

The application materials are available for public review at DEQ’s State Office (1410 N. Hilton Street, Boise, Idaho) and on DEQ’s Public Comment Opportunities page. Written comments will be accepted through July 26, 2024, at 5 p.m. MDT. Submit comments using the form below or by mail or email:
