DEQ, Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency to host woodstove changeout and home weatherization workshop for Franklin County residents

Friday, January 04, 2019

PRESTON - The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency (SEICAA) are hosting a workshop for Franklin County residents interested in a woodstove changeout or home weatherization.

The workshop will be held January 9, 2019, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Larsen-Sant Public Library, 109 S. 1st East, Preston.

DEQ is offering $1,500 or $3,800 rebates for eligible homeowners to replace their old woodstoves with a new EPA-certified woodstove; pellet stove; fireplace insert; or natural gas, electric, or propane heating appliance. Staff will be available to answer questions about DEQ's Woodstove Changeout Program and provide information for better burning to help residents save money, burn cleaner, and protect air quality in the Cache Valley. Attendees will also receive a free carbon monoxide detector and wood moisture meter.

SEICAA will also be available to discuss home weatherization opportunities for qualified, low-income homeowners to replace windows, install insulation, and improve heating.
